The Interior Design Program in the Department of Architectural Studies at MU was the first program in the United States to be accredited in 1972 and has been continuously accredited by the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER) . FIDER provides the foundation for excellence in the interior design profession by setting standards for education and accrediting academic programs that meet those standards. FIDER is recognized as a reliable authority on interior design education by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
