Scholarships and Awards

Department and college financial awards and scholarships are officially announced at the College of Human Environmental Sciences Honors Convocation in the spring each year.

     Sciences Scholarship

  • One or more annual awards shall be made to students in the College of Human Environmental Sciences who are majoring in Textile and Apparel Management or in Architectural Studies who are residents of Missouri
  • Selected recipients shall exhibit a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and must have demonstrated financial need
  • Available to undergraduate students including incoming freshmen
  • Available to Missouri residents
  • May be renewed for a period not to exceed four years as long as the recipient continues to meet criteria for the award
  • Selected by the HES Scholarship Committee
  • Applications must complete the college scholarship application form, available in 117 Gwynn. Application is usually due at the beginning of February each year

  • Professor Emeritus Richard Helmick has matched gifts tendered by alumni and friends to honor his retirement from the College of Human Environmental Sciences
  • Provide one or more annual awards to entering graduate student enrolling in the Design with Digital Media program

  • Initiated to encourage a beginning student in the Architectural Studies undergraduate program
  • Selected by faculty and based on portfolio review as part of the application for admission to the interior design studio course sequence. Portfolio due during the last week of classes in the fall semester
  • No separate application required
  • Officially announced at the College of Human Environmental Sciences Honors Convocation in the spring

  • Initiated in honor of Professor Emeritus Gary Hennigh who retired in 1995 after 27 years on the Architectural Studies faculty
  • An outstanding graduating senior is selected by faculty each year
  • No separate application required
  • Officially announced at the College of Human Environmental Sciences Honors Convocation in the spring

arrow pointing up Carl Christian Friedrich, Nevada Susan Friedrich / Dorothy
     Friedrich Rose Fund Distinguished Senior Award

  • Established by Mrs. Rose to honor her parents, who through hard work and foresight sent their three daughters to the University of Missouri in the 1920's
  • Two awards shall be given each academic year, one in the fall and one in the winter, to the student with the best project generated from the interior design studio sequence which includes Design Studio I, II, and III

arrow pointing up Carol Ann Roberson Williams / Dr. Kate Ellen Rogers
     Scholarship Fund

  • Established by Mr. and Mrs. John P. Williams to honor Kate Rogers who had been one of Mrs. Williams favorite professors
  • One or more annual awards shall be made to full-time junior or senior level students enrolled in the Department of Architectural Studies in the College of Human Environmental Sciences
  • Selected recipients shall exhibit academic achievement and have a demonstrated financial need

     Scholarships

  • Numerous awards and scholarships are available through the College of Human Environmental Sciences
  • Applications for all these awards are usually due in February with official announcements of awards made at an annual Honors Convocation in the spring
  • Information on college awards and scholarships are available at 117 Gwynn Hall (573-882-6424) and a single application form can be used for any awards and scholarships for which the student is qualified

arrow pointing up Tom and Carolyn Wiley Scholarship

  • One or more annual awards shall be made to students in the College of human Environmental Sciences in the following areas: Architectural Studies, Human Development and Family Studies (a child life major), and Textile and Apparel Management
  • The award shall be rotated among the three departments
  • Selected recipients shall be completing their junior year and the award is intended to be available during the senior year
  • Based on demonstrated financial need
  • No consideration given to grade point average, preference given to students who participate in extra-curricular activities

  • Established by Alumna, Marcia Wehrle and Robert Healy and ExxonMobil match
  • Awarded annually to a full time graduate student(s) in the Architectural Studies Department
  • The scholarship may be renewed
  • Selected by faculty - no separate application required
  • Announced at the annual presentation of the Marcia Wehrle Healy and Robert N. Healy Interior Design and Architecture Studies Lecture
