Research Interests

Environment and Aging; Dementia Special Care Units; Nursing Homes; Assisted-living; Design Process and Design Theory; International Residential Environments.


Awards

Dr. Schwarz received the Outstanding Teacher Award from the College of Human Environmental Sciences and received the Faculty-Alumni Award from the from the University of Missouri Alumni Association. He is an “Honorable Member of the Mystical Seven Honorary Organization” at the the 79th Tap Day (2006). Professor Schwarz was recognized as one of the “Most Admired Professors” of 2011 as reported by DesignIntelligence.

Professor Benyamin Schwarz was a recipient for the 2013 Writing Intensive Excellence Award. The WI Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes outstanding WI teaching that helps achieve the mission of Writing to Learn and Learning to Write within the disciplines.
