High Impact Practices (HIPs) are classroom experiences that resonate!
This evidence-based coursework is often incorporated into the curriculum through a project that extends beyond the classroom. HIPs include service learning, internships, community engagement, study abroad, writing intensive, research intensive, or learning communities. HIPs are a critical way to ensure quality in education. While Mizzou requires all students to have three HIPs experiences in their degree program, our department provides nine opportunities strategically mapped to maximize learning outcomes. We are proud to be ‘HIPsters’ and share our research on this topic widely within and beyond our discipline.
