Project: Structure Assembly

Studio I

MISSION STATEMENT FOR PROJECT:

In this project, the University of Missouri has commissioned a contemporary shelter assembly. Positioned on a 900 sq ft plot within one of the four specified campus locations, this shelter assembly is envisioned to be a flexible architectural structure that encourages individuals to enter and linger.

GOALS OF THE PROJECT:
  1. Crafting a space where people feel welcomed and motivated to walk through.
  2. Creating a space that harmoniously balances the surrounding landscape and the structure’s prescribed aesthetics.
  3. Carefully consider the materials and joints used in the construction of the structure.
OTHER IMPORTANT BUILDING DESIGN CRITERIA:
  1. Thoughtfully choose one of the four sites which will set precedent for the structural design.
  2. Structure does not have to fully shelter users from all elements, but should consider natural systems such as light, wind, sound, existing circulation and building patterns
