Project: Structure Assembly
Studio I
MISSION STATEMENT FOR PROJECT:
In this project, the University of Missouri has commissioned a contemporary shelter assembly. Positioned on a 900 sq ft plot within one of the four specified campus locations, this shelter assembly is envisioned to be a flexible architectural structure that encourages individuals to enter and linger.
GOALS OF THE PROJECT:
- Crafting a space where people feel welcomed and motivated to walk through.
- Creating a space that harmoniously balances the surrounding landscape and the structure’s prescribed aesthetics.
- Carefully consider the materials and joints used in the construction of the structure.
OTHER IMPORTANT BUILDING DESIGN CRITERIA:
- Thoughtfully choose one of the four sites which will set precedent for the structural design.
- Structure does not have to fully shelter users from all elements, but should consider natural systems such as light, wind, sound, existing circulation and building patterns
