This project re-imagines a Swedish elementary School as an Assisted Living Facility. Thee project is based off the concept of Fika, a cultural reminder to prioritize your wellbeing via prioritizing those closest to you. “Ankdamm” is the Swedish word for duck pond, which sits just north of the site.
Assisted Living
Previous Health Nursery School located in Örkelljunga, Sweden. Tasked to renovate the existing structure to be used as an assisted living home. The building rests within a nature filled site, and is surrounded by single family and multi-family residential. The goal of this facility is to improve the quality of life for elderly people living in and around Örkelljunga, as well as offer a glimpse into the future of assisted living as we embrace the rapidly growing demographic.

The Norden Nook is an assisted living facility designed for its residents to adapt to a comfortable lifestyle where they can still engage with others and their community, rejuvenate and seek comfort, and facilitate deep connections with others
Assisted Living
Örkelljunga is an aging city in Sweden with deaths out numbering the birth rate. The building was originally used as a nursery school. To meet the demands of the community, it is proposed to be an assisted living facilty. The building is 20,236 SQFT split into 3 pods with central space created to connect the three pods on the lower level. Individuals often share common threads throughout their lives and are often more similar than different. Communities uplift, support, and empower each other. This concept means that it will be a place for residents to explore on their own through amenities, daily activities, and receive support when needed while still remaining with the freedom of decision & autonomy. Spaces included in the facility will push for social interaction, while also taking into account physical limitations & mental needs the individuals.
Assisted Living
This assisted living facility in Örkelljunga, Sweden transforms the Högkullen Preschool into a tranquil home for the elderly. With Sweden’s aging population and heightened focus on elder care, the project meets the growing need for supportive, comfortable living environments. The design fosters tranquility and balance, creating a peaceful home for residents in their final years. Inspired by the Japandi style, it blends Scandinavian simplicity and warmth with Japanese mindfulness. The neutral & earthy palette, nature-inspired textures, and clean lines enhance calmness and connectedness to the landscape.
Assisted Living
20,236 Sqft senior living facility located in Orkelljunga Sweden. This facility is designed for people over the age of 65 who can no longer live independently. The main challenge for this design renovation was finding a way to maximize the number of comfortably sized resident rooms while ensuring enough workspace for staff and communal space for residents.
