Jayedi Aman, PhD
Assistant Professor
Jayedi Aman, PhD (He/Him) is an Assistant Professor in Architectural Studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is developing a new City AI Lab and is affiliated with the Immersive Visualization Lab (iLab) and the Digital Fabrication Lab. His research focuses on understanding how city design and development influence sustainability and human behavior. By using technologies such as Digital Twin, Geospatial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, Dr. Aman develops frameworks to assess the environmental impact of buildings and public sentiment. His work supports sustainable urban planning and design practices, and he has contributed to projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL).
Dr. Aman participates in conferences such as CAADRIA, eCAADe, IEEE, and is a member of the Institute of Architects, Bangladesh (IAB), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Association of American Geographers (AAG). Outside of work, he enjoys cross-country trips with his family and exploring vintage country music.
Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Aman’s teaching philosophy centers on collaborative, project-based learning, helping students develop critical thinking skills and practical expertise to solve real-world design challenges.
Research Philosophy
His research integrates AI and urban energy simulations to provide insights for sustainable city planning, focusing on creating resilient, carbon-efficient environments through data-driven strategies.
AI in design computing has the potential to empower the next generation of architects, designers, and researchers to create cities that are adaptive and responsive to evolving needs. However, it is crucial to apply this technology thoughtfully, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of its capabilities and implications.
